What is Cold Rolled Annealed Steel?

Cold Rolled Annealed Steel is produced by cold reducing hot rolled pickled coils and subsequently applying a controlled, protective atmosphere heat treatment (annealing).
During the annealing process, the steel is heated under strictly monitored conditions to relieve internal stresses and recrystallize the grain structure. Compared to full hard cold rolled steel, annealed steel offers:

Higher Ductility & Better Elongation:

Extremely easy to deform, shape, and manipulate without cracking or fracturing.

Superior Stamping & Deep Drawing Performance:

Perfectly suited for complex geometric components and deep-drawn parts.

Highly Uniform Mechanical Properties:

Consistently stable performance across entire production batches, minimizing machinery downtime on your press lines.

Manufacturing Process & Quality Control

Our localized quality control engineers monitor each stage of the manufacturing process to ensure consistent, mill-direct quality.

Hot Rolled Coil Pickling:

Hot rolled steel coils undergo continuous acid pickling to completely remove surface oxide scale and rust, creating a pristine, clean surface ready for cold reduction.

Controlled Atmosphere Annealing:

The steel is heat-treated in advanced bell-type or continuous annealing furnaces under a protective hydrogen/nitrogen atmosphere. This process eliminates internal stresses, restores the steel's ductility, and optimizes grain structure.

Precision Cold Rolling:

The pickled steel is fed into multi-high cold rolling mills. We utilize automatic gauge control (AGC) systems to achieve ultra-precise thickness tolerances (up to ±0.02 mm depending on specification), superior smooth surface finishes, and excellent flatness.

Comprehensive Rigorous Inspection:

Before shipment, our specialists perform strict testing in accredited laboratories, covering chemical composition, mechanical properties (tensile strength, yield strength, elongation), dimensional accuracy, and surface quality.

Product Features & Advantages

Excellent Formability:

Optimized for deep drawing, complex stamping, and sharp-angle bending without cracking.

Superior Surface Finish:

Available in bright, smooth, or matte finishes, perfectly suited for direct painting, plating, electro-galvanizing, or decorative powder coating.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between Full Hard and Annealed cold rolled steel?

A: Full Hard cold rolled steel (HRB ≥ 85) is unannealed; it is highly rigid and brittle with virtually no formability, often used for simple bending or flat profile sheets. Annealed cold rolled steel is soft (HRB ≤ 60), highly ductile, and optimized for complex stamping, stretching, and deep drawing.

Q: Can you supply specific surface finishes like Matte, Bright, or Oiled?

A: Yes. We can customize the surface roughness (matte finish for better paint adhesion, or bright/mirror finish for decorative use). We also apply premium anti-rust oils based on your storage duration (dry, light-oiled, or heavily-oiled).

Q: Do you support third-party inspections?

A: Absolutely. We welcome and facilitate third-party inspections by internationally recognized testing institutions. Inspectors can access our partner mills or warehouses to perform sampling, dimensional checks, and witness loading.

Q: What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

A: Our standard MOQ for production runs is typically 25 MT (one full container load). However, for trial orders or standard stock sizes, we can often accommodate smaller quantities. Please contact our sales team to discuss your specific project.

Q: How do you prevent rust during long-distance ocean transit?

A: We use a combination of rust-preventative oil, Vapor Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) paper, moisture-proof plastic wrapping, and robust steel packaging sheets, topped off with heavy-duty desiccants placed inside the shipping containers.
