Hot-rolled steel strip generally refers to coiled steel strip with a thickness ranging from 1 to 20 mm and a width typically between 600 and 2,000 mm. Hot-rolled steel strip can be utilized directly as hot-rolled steel plate or supplied as feedstock for the production of cold-rolled steel strip. It is widely employed across various industrial sectors-including automotive, electrical machinery, chemical processing, and shipbuilding-and also serves as the primary raw material for the production of cold-rolled products, welded pipes, and cold-formed steel sections. The hot continuous rolling mill is the principal equipment used for manufacturing hot-rolled steel strip, offering distinct advantages such as high production efficiency, high output volume, and superior product quality.

 

Based on product width and manufacturing process, hot-rolled steel strip production is categorized into four methods: wide-strip hot continuous rolling, wide-strip reversible hot rolling, narrow-strip hot continuous rolling, and hot rolling utilizing a planetary mill. The materials used for these steel strips include general carbon steel, low-alloy steel, stainless steel, and silicon steel. These strips are primarily utilized as raw materials for the production of cold-rolled steel, welded pipes, cold-formed sections, and welded structural steel, or for the fabrication of various structural components.
